Healthcare

Medical providers serve a critical role in maintaining the health and wellness of the community. But a significant part of providing effective healthcare services is patient-provider communication. To meet the communication needs of many of your Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients it is essential to utilize professionally certified Sign language interpreters. Partners Interpreting coordinates services for a range of medical settings 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We offer onsite interpreting services to healthcare organizations “as-needed” but also offer dedicated coverage during business and after hours. We work with one-time needs and recurring needs on a daily or weekly basis. We fully screen, vet, and approve our network of medically qualified interpreters who all carry the necessary credentials and follow industry standards. We can also establish additional compliance requirements for your location. We coordinate hearing and Deaf (CDI) Interpreter Specialists to work with your diverse patient population. Each medical interpreter has met our requirements for medical interpreting. However, many institutions have a unique protocol and set of requirements for medical staff. We can work with your administration to establish site-specific protocols so that all PI interpreters dispatched onsite will be fully compliant. Some compliance items include:

  1. Proprietary encounter forms or reporting protocols
  2. Safety protocols
  3. Vaccinations
  4. Education and training

Custom programs:

Dedicated Interpreter Shift:

With PI, you can secure interpreter(s) for your patient population for a minimum shift during business hours, Monday through Friday. This interpreter is secured solely for your organization and can cover multiple predetermined site locations. Our dedicated interpreter model (similar to having a staff interpreter) helps respond to pre-scheduled appointments, short notice, and emergencies. We customize this program to help maximize coverage for your demand. You may choose the minimum shift hours (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and the number of days per week. Not sure what you need? For organizations unsure of the volume and activity, we can implement an interim pilot for 90 days and evaluate what combination of hours and days is the most effective for you. Contact us to build your customized program.

Program benefits:

  • Avoid disrupting practice or department scheduling based on interpreter availability
  • Enhance patient experience and care
  • Eliminate higher short-notice rates, multiple same-day two-hour billing minimums, and get discounted hourly rates
  • Cut time waiting for the availability of offsite providers for requests
  • Reduce admin coordinating time, including rescheduling and canceling appointments with providers

Labor and Delivery (the "Baby Watch"):

Secure ASL interpreters for a minimum three-week period around a due date to be on standby during non-business hours. We establish a specific protocol for your hospital and schedule ASL interpreters to be on call for a low hourly rate. Once you place a request with us, our answering service immediately contacts the on-call interpreter secured exclusively for your site. It quickly dispatches them to the hospital location in need of assistance. This ad-hoc program helps deliver the best patient care interpreting for the family around this life-changing event. Our unique program is a great model for hospitals that do not have the volume to run a whole year-round after-hours, on-call program. Contact us for more details.

After-Hours On-Call Support:

We secure a team of ASL interpreters to be on standby for your hospital for all pre-scheduled and emergency non-business hour needs. The shifts run Monday-Friday, 5 pm-8 am, and 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. PI also has regional program options that coordinate an interpreter to respond to pre-designated hospitals within a given region. Our after-hours on-call support is a cost-savings measure and an effective way to have dedicated services for your hospital needs. Contact us for more details.
