Lisa has 32+ years of experience and has been interpreting since 1982. After taking several sign language classes at the local YMCA at the age of 18, she fell in love. She loved the language and culture of the Deaf community. Lisa’s YMCA teacher encouraged her to attend Gallaudet University for the summer intensive study program. Upon her return she began her interpreting career as a staff interpreter at R.E.A.D.S. Collaborative. At R.E.A.D.S., she worked with Deaf high school students for 13 years. During that time she received both her Massachusetts State Screening and RID Certification. Lisa’s freelancing career began in 1985 in a variety of settings including business, corporate, mental health, medical, VRS and international travel.  Lisa particularly likes the technology now available in the venue of Video Relay. Lisa helped establish the South East Mentorship Program as well as participated and taught in the Peer Mentorship Program. She enjoys mentoring those who are just starting out in the field. In addition to Interpreting Lisa enjoys family time with her husband and 3 sons, kayaking, windsurfing and leading worship at her church.
